Kara Hamilton
I’m Kara Hamilton and I’m from Northern Illinois. I love all things outdoors, no matter the season. I grew up fishing since I could stand and started hunting in my late teens with my dad and brother. Waterfowl hunting is by far my favorite! Watching the behaviors and patterns of birds and seeing a group of ducks or geese locked up is the greatest feeling in the world. I’m especially fascinated by Canadian Geese. We get a lot in the north! It’s never about the number of harvests in a season for me, but rather the time spent together with friends and family that’s most important. The bonds and connections that I have built in the blind are some of the strongest relationships I have to this day. The best memories I have hunting are ones with my close friends or family beside me. If I’m not hunting, you can find me wading in the river trying to hook a small mouth bass. Fishing is really another escape for me. Wading in the water makes me feel especially connected to nature and at that moment, I’m truly at peace.
I’ve always stuck to hunting in my area of Northern Illinois with my family. In 2024, I decided to sign up for a duck hunt with random girls on a Facebook page and headed to Missouri. I had never hunted out of state without my dad or my brother, but this was the best decision I had ever made. I gained the confidence to travel to new spots, made myself become more reliant and knowledgeable with my shotgun and gear, and truly started putting all my time and energy into hunting.
My True North revolves around my passion for conservation and truly cherishing the land and creatures that God has created and given to us. I truly believe in hunting respectfully and ethically. I do all things with Christ as my foundation. My morals and values guide everything that I do throughout my life. I pray before, during, and after each hunt. I think hunting gives you the perfect opportunities for quiet moments with God. I believe we have to be good stewards of the land and resources that we have been given. I also think we have great chances for fellowship while hunting and having deep conversations over Little Debbie’s.
I am very grateful for the experiences I’ve had, and the mentors I’ve had with me along the way. My goal is to continue sharing my passion and hopefully inspire others (especially females) to fall in love with hunting and fishing.
See you outside!
